Eating Out
Eating and drinking out is a popular local activity, even more so during the high season when literally dozens of extra establishments open up to cater for the summer crowds. Throughout the year you'll find a good selection of restaurants to choose from. Most menus are based around a mixture of international and regional dishes, seafood traditionally being the prominent ingredient although most meats are also available. Tropical fruits play an increasingly popular role in the salads and desserts. Fastfood outlets are becoming established as elsewhere but they're more for the visitors and kids. Most locals fortunately still prefer their own cooking, served by the generous plateful, and their fastest food is still usually the tapa. To help you understand more about the food and drink that you're likely to find during your stay, we've prepared some general information that we hope you'll find useful.. |

Both Almuñécar and La Herradura offer a wide selection of restaurants of varying categories and styles. Most are located on or near the principal beach fronts. Traditional local dishes, especially fish, are well represented on the menus, usually along with a standard offering of international favourites. Some restaurants specialise in regional or foreign cooking with most of the popular european flavours well represented, as well as Chinese and Indian. Most places offer an economical and normally very acceptable menu of the day which saves about 30% or 40% on combined prices. These may not be available during the evenings in some establishments. To help you decide where to go, we have made a selection of what we consider to be the best and most popular restaurants and chiringuitos (beach bars) in the area. This listing is not meant to be definitive and we hope that it can be adapted with the help of your feedback. Send us an email if you would like to recommend an establishment that we haven't mentioned. |
