When to Come

The summer season is obviously the busiest and the hottest. This starts on July 1st and finishes at the end of August. If you want plenty of sun and action, then this is the time to visit the area. Beaches are packed morning and late afternoon. Restaurants, bars and shops are in full swing, and the vibrant nightlife keeps many on their feet until dawn. Accommodation can be very hard to find and should be booked well in advance.
Spring and autumn comprise the mid-season. Weather can be glorious with perfect temperatures and clear sunny days, though there may be unpredictable rainy or windy spells The town is much quieter and more manageable during these months though hardly a week passes by without some sort of celebration or public activity to put some sparkle into the atmosphere. June and September are normally excellent times to visit the area without the summer crowds and heat.
Low season covers the winter months from approximately November to March. Except for Christmas, accommodation is easier to find and the whole town slows down to a more andaluz pace. This is the best time of year to visit for a quiet and relaxing break. Weather can be unexpectedly mild, often sunny and hot during the day, getting cooler at night. Coordinating your visit to coincide with one of the local holidays can be a rewarding experience. See our Calendar of Annual Events for what's on throughout the year.
